Launched and managed by the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA), Green Star is a voluntary sustainability rating scheme for buildings, fitouts and communities. GBCA state their aims to transform the built environment by reducing the impact of climate change, enhancing health and quality of life, and restoring and protecting our planet’s biodiversity and ecosystems.

PDC Consultants has worked on behalf of several major developers across New South Wales in the development of documentation necessary for Green Star accreditation, specifically focussing on the Sustainable Transport Credit of said applications.

Sustainable travel forms a significant consideration in the assessment of a development’s sustainable credentials. Across the four rating systems offered by GBCA, the Sustainable Transport Credit accounts for approximately 10% of a development’s total score. During recent liaison with Green Star, PDC Consultants contributed towards the development of a bespoke means of assessing a site’s walkability, ensuring a fairer and more transparent means of assessment could be adopted for sites across NSW.
