Richmond Bridge

Improving connectivity across the Hawkesbury River

The Richmond Bridge project, jointly funded by the NSW and Federal Governments, includes traffic improvements and a new bridge over the Hawkesbury River between Richmond and North Richmond town centres.

The project aims to reduce congestion, improve travel times, support future growth, and enhance public and active transport connectivity. Currently, the bridge provides a vital crossing for an average of 31,000 vehicles per day with a single lane in each direction.

Delivering early safety benefits through stage 1

The project is being delivered in two stages to ensure early benefits for the community. Stage 1 focuses on upgrades to The Driftway between Londonderry and Blacktown Road, laying the groundwork for future infrastructure improvements.

Stage 2 will complete the remainder of the project, further enhancing safety and capacity.

Road safety auditing for critical upgrades

PDC Consultants was engaged by Transport for NSW to provide expert road safety auditing services for Stage 1.

Our audit team conducted a detailed review of the existing road conditions and their connections to the broader road network. Findings identified several deficiencies requiring immediate attention, ensuring the project addressed these issues effectively.

Collaboration with the Transport for NSW project team was key to delivering actionable recommendations and improving outcomes for the community.
