Canada Bay Club has proudly served the Inner West since 1966. Originally, it began with humble roots as a local soccer club and has since grown into a vibrant venue with over 20,000 members. Located in Five Dock, the Club remains a social hub for locals and visitors of all ages and backgrounds.
Addressing increased usage and patron growth
PDC Consultants has been involved in numerous applications for the site. This includes preparation of a Transport Impact Assessment (TIA) to support a Planning Proposal to rezone an adjacent residential lot to permit a new car park for the Club. Following approval of the Planning Proposal, PDC was engaged to prepare a separate TIA for a Development Application (DA) for expansion of the Club building, as well as the expansion of the car park to include the recently rezoned residential lot.
Developing practical traffic and parking solutions
The DA involved expansion of the existing car park to include the rezoned residential lot, expansion of the Club building to facilitate increased food and beverage areas, function rooms, sports bars and gaming areas, as well as the creation of a new porte-cochere for drop-off / pick-up of patrons. As part of this DA, PDC assessed the parking supply and demand, and undertook SIDRA Intersection traffic modelling of key surrounding intersections. PDC also prepared a Green Travel Plan and Transport Access Guide as measures to encourage mode shift and to reduce reliance on private vehicles.
