Reducing reliance on private vehicles in Shoalhaven

Shoalhaven Council has embarked on improving the active transport infrastructure and reducing reliance on cars, which is outlined in the Active Transport Strategy (finalised in January 2025). This document provides the strategy, ranking methodology, and mapping to support the expansion of paths, pedestrian crossings and bicycle infrastructure across the city.

Pedestrian infrastructure assessment for critical upgrades

PDC Consultants formed part of a broader consulting team and had the role of assessing the existing pedestrian and active transport area throughout the wider Shoalhaven area. This included areas such as Meroo Meadow, Bomaderry, Nowra, Mollymook and several others. This assessment was then used to prioritise areas of need and the required infrastructure upgrades necessary to bring about the desired uptake in active transport methods that Shoalhaven City Council desired.
