Willoughby Leisure Centre
Upgrading community facilities for enhanced access
The Willoughby Leisure Centre recently underwent significant upgrades to its aquatic facilities, introducing a modern design and expanded services for the local community. The improvements include a 25-metre lap pool with an access ramp, warm-water and teaching pools, toddler facilities, and a new spa and sauna.
These upgrades aim to enrich the user experience and accommodate growing demand for the Centre’s offerings.
Addressing increased usage during netball season
The Centre serves as the home of the Northern Suburbs Netball Association, which hosts competitions from April to September.
During peak periods, up to 100 teams play across four timeslots, with around 25 teams per session. This intense utilisation presents significant challenges in managing traffic flow and parking demand, particularly during competition days.
Developing practical traffic and parking solutions
PDC Consultants conducted a comprehensive review of traffic and parking conditions during the netball season’s peak activity. This included extensive surveys and the development of local area traffic management strategies.
Our recommendations were designed to optimise traffic flow, better manage parking capacity, and ensure a smoother experience for all Centre users, both during high-demand periods and throughout the year.
