Riverside Hospital, Mackay
Advancing healthcare accessibility in Mackay
The Riverside Private Hospital is a proposed five-storey, 60-bed facility featuring state-of-the-art amenities, including six intensive care rooms, five operating theatres, consulting suites, and ancillary services such as x-ray, pathology, pharmacy, and a cafeteria.
Positioned directly opposite the Mackay Base Hospital, the new facility will create a collaborative and connected healthcare hub, promoting clinician-led, patient-focused wellness across the region.
Addressing accessibility and parking needs
PDC Consultants provided transport expertise to ensure the accessibility of this critical healthcare infrastructure. The hospital will occupy a previously unutilised lot that was informally used for car parking. Although this parking was unauthorised, we recognised its importance and incorporated provisions to offset its loss as part of the planning process.
Supporting safety and road network performance
Our work focused on road network performance and safety, coordinating with the project team to identify and implement necessary infrastructure upgrades.
These measures aim to facilitate seamless access to the hospital while supporting the needs of the broader community, ensuring the project contributes positively to Mackay’s healthcare and transport networks.
