Govetts Leap access and parking strategy
Enhancing visitor experience in the Blue Mountains
The Blue Mountains Heritage Centre and Govetts Leap Lookout, located in the Blue Mountains National Park, are iconic tourist destinations.
With numerous walking tracks accessible from the Lookout, the Heritage Centre also serves as a hub for exhibitions, conferences, and cultural learning, highlighting local Aboriginal culture, flora, fauna, and regional history.
Planning for future growth and accessibility
PDC Consultants was engaged by the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) to develop an access and parking strategy for the Lookout and Heritage Centre.
The strategy addressed anticipated increases in visitation, focusing on improving vehicular and pedestrian access, enhancing safety, and expanding parking infrastructure to meet future demand.
Delivering sustainable access solutions
Our team proposed various infrastructure options to optimise visitor and staff access while maintaining the environmental integrity of this World Heritage-listed site.
The plan ensures that Govetts Leap continues to provide a seamless and safe experience for all visitors, supporting its role as a key destination in the Blue Mountains.
